Backgrounds: Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is characterized by pathological ectopic ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament. Development of OPLL induces compression myelopathy or radiculopathy by spinal stenosis and the loss of spinal flexibility by ankylosing spinal hyperosteosis (ASH).
